How it works

  1. Take a photo against a light wall, about 4 feet away, camera at eye level, soft light from the front.
  2. Upload & align with the head and eye guides. Auto-fit does it for you when a face is found.
  3. Download the 600x600 JPG for online forms, or print the 4x6 sheet (six photos) at a drugstore for a few cents.

FAQ

What are the US passport photo requirements?

2 x 2 inches, color, taken in the last 6 months, plain white or off-white background. Your head from chin to top of head must measure 1 to 1 3/8 inches. Face the camera with a neutral expression or natural smile and both eyes open.

Can I wear glasses in a passport photo?

No. Glasses have not been allowed in US passport photos since 2016, unless you include a signed medical statement. Take them off before your photo.

Can I smile?

A natural, closed or slightly open smile is fine. Avoid big grins, raised eyebrows or squinting.

What size is the digital file?

PassPhotoSnap exports a 600 x 600 px JPEG (2 x 2 in at 300 dpi), the size used for online passport renewal and most US visa forms.

How do I print it?

Download the 4x6 print sheet and order a standard 4x6 in print at any photo kiosk or online. Print at 100% (no "fit to page"), then cut along the guide lines.

Does this change my face?

Never. We only crop, scale, rotate slightly, and replace the background behind you. Face retouching is not allowed in passport photos and we don't do it.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser. The background model is downloaded to your device and your image never goes to a server.

Will my photo be accepted?

We can't guarantee it. The agency decides. Good lighting, focus, no shadows and a neutral pose matter as much as size and background.
