How to print a passport photo at home
You do not need a specialty shop. A standard 4×6 inch print from a drugstore kiosk (or a careful home printer) works for US passport applications when each cut photo is exactly 2×2 inches.
1. Get a 4×6 print sheet
PassPhotoSnap can export a sheet with six 2×2 photos laid out on a 4×6 canvas, with light cut guides. Save it as a JPG to your phone or USB drive.
2. Print at a drugstore kiosk
- Choose a standard 4×6 print (not square, not panoramic).
- Turn off “fit to page,” “borderless stretch,” or auto-crop. Print at 100% / actual size.
- Glossy or matte photo paper is fine; avoid heavily textured paper.
- Preview on the kiosk screen: the sheet should fill the 4×6 frame without extra zoom.
3. Or print at home
- Use photo paper and set the printer to 4×6 (or letter with a 4×6 layout if your driver supports it).
- Disable “fit to printable area.” Measure one photo after printing—it must be 2 inches on each side.
- If your printer shrinks the image, increase scale slightly and measure again before cutting a full set.
4. Cut carefully
Cut along the guide lines with sharp scissors or a paper cutter. Edges should be straight; slightly uneven cuts are a common rejection reason.
